Nord Lead 4 - Synthesis/Device Training?

Postby skipper01 » Sat Aug 18, 2018 11:08 am

Hi, I just wondered if anybody could help/advise?
I have access to a Nord Lead 4 which is proving fun and helping song ideas.
However, I do not profess to be overly experienced with analog/Virtual Analog synthesis. I am happy with the management and use with Logic but fear I am a little at the mercy of presets and limited capabilities to sculpt my own sound at present.
I have seen some tutorials/demos to learn from online and am happy to do the hard yards. The manual is tough going imho.
However, does anybody know of any individuals, users, centres that may offer training for this product coupled inevitably with synthesis therein?
I appreciate its not a 5 minute job and the machine is a beast for probably experienced synth users. However, I know from experience I react well to guidance and I'd like to relate it to this product if at all possible.
Clearly happy to pay.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

There is a very comprehensive resource on understanding synthesis here at SOS.

Synth Secrets was published for over 5 years in Sound On Sound and it is still one of the finest learning tools on the planet.

I'd PM The Elf (Paul Ward) as he does one-to-one tuition and there's not a lot he doesn't know about synths (or recording and mixing). He always leaves a satisfied customer behind and is prepared to travel. Zukan (Eddie Bazil) is also someone who knows all about synths and also gives lessons, but generally prefers to tutor from his home (High Wycombe).

Zukan will also do sessions over Skype iirc. Both are very skilled and highly recommended with outstanding CVs. I know we recommending the same couple of people for this when asked, but that's because they are both so damned good at it and also at communicating well - a vital skill. Zukan's stories are usually more surreally funny though... ;)
