I have purchased a book after winning it on ebay. The book is called "Pro Tone Data Book 1 - Cosmo Synthesizer CZ Series". I was just wondering if there was a book 2?

I have: -

100 sounds for the CZ book 1
100 sounds for the CZ book 2
Pro Tone Data Book 1

I could find several references to Volume 1, including several ebay auctions including the book, but nothing further, so I'd guess probably not...

I had a look and I seem to have most of those patches in my CZ library, but they are not marked with the source - just some of many of the thousands of CZ patches around that got dumped into huge files...

I had the "100 Sounds" Book 1 back in the day too...

OK, thanks not to worry. I used to have a CZ-1 and remember programming 64 sounds for it. I backed up the sounds on Midi File and eventually put them onto CD. Last week I found the original Atari ST disk I made.

Nice! Always good to find some old valued data in storage somewhere!

I did a blog post about my quest for my lost CZ patches:
http://www.muzines.co.uk/blog/the-long-lost-patch/20

As you can see, I went a bit around the houses to pull up my old patches, but I have them all now as individual Logic presets I can quickly call up in VirtualCZ, and it's great! (I sold my CZ-1 also...)

Desmond, that was a real labour of love!

I remember wistfully playing the CZ in a shop, and starting to save up for one. But then we moved house and I doubled the mortgage and all thoughts of acquiring a synth at all were parked for over a decade (By which time the CZ was a distant memory)

In addition to the three books I mentioned I have, I've also 320 sounds, on data sheets, from Leister Productions and watching another book on ebay. :bouncy:

I've seen that auction Desmond. A Casio CZ-1, a bargain at £10,000? No way, more like £265.

CZ-1, Ex-Vince Clarke. (Possibly)

Not a whole lot of provenance offered by the seller there!

Even if it was Vince Clarke's, I'm not sure how collectible that really makes it (even to an avid and rich Erasure fan) - It's hardly David Gilmour's black strat - Estimate $100K-$150K

A picture of some other listing somewhere else is not the most confidence inspiring thing! :bouncy:

Indeed. It's just a CZ-1, with (possibly) a cool story. Maybe if it was filled with custom patches from the early Erasure days, that might help - come to think of it, he could probably make a lot more by selling sysex banks of the patches than selling the hardware...

As I said, if the price was £265 I'd think about putting in an offer.
