OK, anyone in Sheffield Friday evening and fancy meeting up for a Lebanese meal in Mount Lebanon restaurant in West Street? I'd like to suggest meeting in a nearby pub first but don't know the pubs of Sheffield so perhaps a local could suggest somewhere suitable. Time, say, 6pm.

I'm up for this, but would need an idiot's guide to where the pub is, and how long you expected to stay there.

I'm not supposed to start breaking down my stand until after doors close at 6:30pm, and official unloading time starts at 7pm :(

Others wanting to come along may be in the same position.

Friday night not Saturday Folderol, it can't take you that long to load in surely? Unless you've suddenly gone all modular on us? ;)
I'll miss this as i'll be helping with the load in but might sneak out for a cheeky half later.

Oops! Didn't spot that. I'm actually setting up first thing Saturday morning, so will have to work out something for parking on the Friday - I'm actually staying in Hope valley - not exactly walking distance!

Indeed I am asking about Friday because plans can be made for Saturday on the day and I didn't know how many (if any) might be in Sheffield on Friday evening and at a loose end.

There's just over half a million people in Sheffield, so most of them will be there on Friday evening. Hope that helps. ;)

There's always the Hope Valley railway, that's generally a bit of an experience...
Not sure what time it stops running though.

I'll not be around on Friday night as I'm staying with my Father near Northhampton, but if there's anything going on after the show on Saturday I'm up for that :-)

Pretty good actually. I used it the very first SynthFest. Can't remember the last train time now though. The worst bit was finding my way to the Octagon for Sheffield station :(

If one starts at the station then don't those the directions get you to about half of Sheffield?

Somewhat unhappy that I can't make it to Synthfest

I think I'm going to have to pass on Friday :(
The train times are not good, and would result in me having to ask my hosts to leave the door unlocked two nights in succession. It's only a small two (elderly) person establishment. Added to which the likelihood of rain is quite high, and as well as the walk Sheffield end, it's anther 20 minutes Hope end.

So, all in all I think it best to stick with a Saturday dinner with friends for me.

Ah well, I guess I shall be eating in solitary grandeur, then. At least I can get embarrassingly drunk without anyone on the forum knowing.

Panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic
{you get the idea}
That was me a short while ago.
A message had just dropped in my inbox, reminding me I needed to bring my own speaker cables.

Just to be on the safe side I though I'd pop them in the car straight away, and went to the drawer where they are always kept and... They weren't there

Nor in the other drawers, nor the cabinet, shelf, downstairs, upstairs, bedroom... not even the bottom of the wardrobe - where I have been known to dump the 'overflow'.
Exhausted I sank back down in the office chair, desperately trying to think where I last saw them.

As it happens, I glanced at the still open drawer, straight at a pair of TRS to XLR leads. I'm sure I heard someone (or something) sniggering as I picked them up.

They are now properly imprisoned in the bag with all the other essentials!

I'm placing a mental bet with myself on how many exhibitors I will need to source speaker cables for. If it's anything like last year it will now be everyone apart from you! ;)

I think synth-heads are allergic to XLRs...

Might someone be kind enough to avail oneself of some car parking options?

Thanks.
