Could somebody help me to emitate this sound

Postby zitto » Sun Aug 18, 2019 2:23 pm

Hi everyone. I desparatley need to get the sound like in this piece : https://jmp.sh/NItl2Sf

Could somebody help me to do so, here ?

Answers like : it is rhodes / piano with some fx chain is not welcome here.

Please, analyse it deeply and give me the clean picture how it was done!

The sound quality is so bad that beyond saying it's a bit rhodes-like, there's not much to add.

Sounds like a harp in the bass and something vaguely bell/tine-like above. I would think you could create something fairly close in a few minutes on most modern polysynths.

I dunno about that...I reckon all you need do is record some riffs with Lounge Lizard, stick it on a C60, and leave it out in the rain for a couple weeks. ;)

...sorry, I didn't save it...but that had a low part of B alternating with F# D / E C#, with a high chord on Bm.

Kind of a rude way to ask for help?

Anyway I don't think it's rhodes/piano with fx so at least you'll welcome that.

It's really quite simple, and I'd say a polysynth or any basic vst could do it, but your initial request sounded really rude on a forum where people are really nice and helpful so I'm not going to help :D

Forthright, perhaps... but we've all been on forums where a dozen people who don't know what they're talking about come up with unhelpful and frustrating responses to a very specific question. And it can be very difficult judging the intent in forum posts -- no one can see the smile behind the keyboard, or even recognise whether English is the OP's first language.

However, to be fair to the OP, he was perfectly polite and thankful in his subsequent responses to the timely assistance already given.

...so I'm not going to help :D

So why bother posting at all? Isn't that rather rude too?

Blank cassette tapes were sold in total minutes of playing time.

So a C60 would have 30 minutes of recording time on each 'side', whereas a C90 woul offer 45 minutes per side. I suspect most of us bought either C60 or C90 for home recordins of our own music.

The longer C120 wasn't often recommended for extensive, as its thinner tapes tended to stretch or even snap if misused, while in my experience the C45 was only really used to copy vinyl albums, as like them it offered around 22 minutes on each side ;)

Most of the cassette I bought back in the day were C90's, simply because they tended to offer the best value.

It was just a joke related to the high-hiss low quality of the sample you posted. But the sample he put on Soundcloud showed you how easily you could actually get the sound you wanted.
