I've just cured a very noisy volume potentiometer on my Alesis Micron.
I just thought I'd post this for othe Micron owners, as it's quite a common problem.
There is also quite a bit of info on the internet advising against using switch cleaner to cure the noisy pot, as the pot is supposed to be a sealed unit, and the only cure is replacement.
On the contrary, I opened mine up to reveal a pot with holes in the side and top, I simply sprayed a bit of cleaner in and all was fine, no more noise.
I know there were slight design differences between early and later models, but it's worth having a look, just to see if you've got a sealed unit or not. Another source of noise on the output is a VCA issue, but luckily it wasn't that this time, and the switch cleaner was an easy fix.

No problem!
If you have cause to take one of these apart it's built like a tank, about 20 screws holding the bottom on! Take a picture with your phone, I got the screws muddled up and the air was a fetching shade of red for awhile!
The PCB with the pot on it is at least, easy to access.
