Rick Wakeman is playing in Brighton on Sat 14th Dec

Postby Eddy Deegan » Mon Nov 25, 2019 8:48 pm

Heads up to anyone interested. Details are here: https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/rick-w ... -brighton/

Not the full synth setup, this is more piano and chat with some 'surprises' thrown in (whatever that means).

There are enough seats left at the time of writing to make it worth posting about. The venue is rather nice, and has good views of the stage all round.

Tickets are reasonably priced too, at £40-ish (at least ours were).

I'll be working in Amsterdam most of December but will be flying back from Holland just to see this show, then flying back out the day after :-)

Max, Dave B and I saw him earlier this year doing a similar thing. Very good indeed. As he's just got a Christmas themed album out, I'd expect a few carol instrumentals to be thrown in.

Bit far for me, looking for nearer York, although I know he likes Buxton opera house so will check there. He’s a good all round egg, great, great keyboardist and probably the most influential musician for me during my teens (much to my piano teachers dismay at the time!).
The story of the takeaway curry whilst playing with Yes still makes me smile :bouncy:

I'm a huge Yes fan and of Wakeman's solo stuff, Brighton's a bit far from Manchester though but will be looking out for the bootleg YouTubes ;) or maybe Buxton Opera House (the venue for #1 son's first Panto gig in, IIRC, '89. One night he was the only juvenile who made it, I managed to follow a snow plough from Stockport. He had a wonderful time, solo on stage with the cast singing backup in the wings and they got him a room overnight so I didn't have to drive back, which could have been difficult to say the least).

That’s great Sam!

He is playing there, limited availability though.

My first musical hero (when I was 5) and I've never seen him live. Very much looking forward to it!
