Latest daft gadget - Suzuki Waraku

Postby BJG145 » Sun Dec 01, 2019 12:21 pm

I've been meaning to try a Suzuki koto for a while, and I just discovered an electronic one that actually has MIDI out as well as some built-in sounds. It's called the Waraku...

It sounds like this...

In general, for me, it's a good gig if someone comes up afterwards and says "what the hell is that?" and this thing should tick the right boxes. I just put in a modest offer for one I found in France which was accepted, so one should be winging its way across the channel shortly.

I'm now gonna have to spend the afternoon listing some clutter on eBay because there's just no more space left under the bed now...

(...and I just remembered I left the JV30 out overnight in the rain after taking some pics of it in the garden yesterday; oh rats...!)

Awsome, its a total one man band, I especially like the typewriter style keys.

Youill look great in the costume too :)

If Richard Harris taught musicians anything, its that you dont leave stuff out in the rain, especially if it took a long time to make it and youill never have the receipe again.

I would mainly worry about ingress into the buttons. How acid is your rain ?
Im not at all sure if the 4am window rattling sonic boom from the 2 Typhoon interceptors would do anything, probably not - was that in your area ?

That's actually my most hated song ever?

It's OK, you didn't know.

It's just annoying because I did all these glamour shots. Not looking so glamorous now.

I'm sure it'll be fine. :-|

Get a fan heater pointing at it for a few hours. The faster it dries out, the less chance of corrosion.

(been there, done that)

Accelerated drying out is good advice (that is one hot video!). Then give it a thorough test after resting, in say January.

oops !

I consider it a curiosity but I think it begat the
Pearl & Dean ad tune, which then definitely begat
Goldbug's whole lotta love remix
Which is nice.

You really do love your audio gadgets don't you BJG145? 8-)

Sorry to hear about the rain problem though - hope all is well once dried out.

I was actually pretty confident about this keyboard powering up again after I'd shaken the rainwater off it. I guess I'm an optimist at heart.

But...no. Damn.

*edit*

Wait...wrong adaptor. That one was centre positive, it wants centre negative. Well - it said Roland on it, I don't remember having any other Roland gear. I've got dozens of adaptors and most of them aren't labelled so how am I expected to keep track of them all...?

Anyway, it's forgiven me...it's powered up...bless you little JV30.

That Waraku is the nuts! Sort of like one of those 70s organs with chord buttons on the left and a drum box built in, but Japanese and with samples!

Glad to hear the keyboard survived too!
