Here’s a couple I’ve done over the weekend. Both songs are recorded line into an iMac line in from the synth outputs Into Renoise. Masters are polished a bit in Studio One.

Saturday tune is the DSI MEK. I used the Elektron Digitone to sequence notes over midi for some parts, others are just individual samples.

Today I used the Novation UltraNova to make this. Same line in set up again using Renoise and S1 but no need for the Digitone today.

I like this. Novation version especially, but I'm wondering if you'd have been better off either posting in 'Self-Promotion" as this challenge is over.

Funnily enough

Made me smile : as a fan of Sparks, Yello this is triffic take on summer of 69.

More please.

For all the electronic bands from blighty note how serious they all are.
Where's the famed "british sense of humour" in their music ?

It took a Swiss duo and American duo to inject much humour into electronic music.
Although Art Of Noise had their humourous moments.

We sure could do with more mirth in electronic music.

So yes more please RG much more.

(Cause every native knows day to day interactions in blighty are generally miserable:
hardly any sense of humour from people hardly any light heartedness
just a put on mateyness.

That's why need all these brill sitcoms brill comics just to uplift people make people laugh .
Also light hearted music much needed).

You are a very kind person.

I had thought of it as being a one off effort from a random whimsical thought, but another possible mock-teutonic reworking occurred to me this afternoon. ;)

I've never liked a solo violin, you need at least five for a proper fire.

Well, I've got four more synths than I had when we did the last one...

I was waiting for the forum album to finish before suggesting another. But now that you mention it ...

Proposal : Free Synth Challenge. For those of us who have the ability to use plugins, this time have a look around and find a free plugin to use. There's a bundle out there and I suspect that they are limited by the abilities of the user rather than their own restrictions.

Yes? No? all happy with same as usual?

If it's a commercial plugin, but you already own it, that's *kind of* free, in a way...

(Translation - I already have something in mind which doesn't fit into this category... :) )

For me, part of the challenge is exploring stuff I wouldn't normally do, so I like choosing a "difficult" or challenging instrument, or one that I don't really like that much, and seeing whether my opinions change...

It's just if we leave it much longer, Christmas gets in the way a bit and I expect it would have to be early next year.

..as long as you are only using the free "Lite" version ?

I dont mind 1 synth or free synth, I have a folder full of unused free downloads waiting to be put through their paces.

A suitable timscale might distract from Black Friday ?

Free plugin challenge sounds fun... I take it one and one only though right?

The rules should definitely accommodate at least one esteemed participant in our midst who doesn't use plugins, although his choice of soft-synth is free ;)

I'll unregister it, so it will *technically* be the free demo version done within the demo timescales... :D

Also - do NFR's count as free?

Give me some rules and I'll find enough loopholes that there should be at least *something* I can take advantage of..!

And I was actually going to use a hardware synth for this one!
Well, actually, by the time I get on top of my backlog it will be time for the next one anyway so do crack on without me.

I’m not too keen on the free plugin requirement. I would need to download and learn a new synth. I have got enough already that I don’t really know how to use.
