I'm interested provided we don't have to knock something out too soon. I'm a bit busy currently.
As well as my synth of of choice (what incidentally can be used as a plugin) I do have a couple of other free ones - although they are far more limited.
Also, does this include sample players? I also have one that plays (free) sf2 sample sets... although presumably to be fair you would have to stick to only one set.

Ok, let's make the 'free' thing a suggestion rather than a rule. I'm just as cool with that.
As for Christmas getting in the way : this year? really? ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha .. etc
Sorry, yes point taken. How about a kick off this weekend with a deadline of the 28th November? That's five weeks which seems to be a good length and stops just before the December madness (you know ... all those virtual company do's and Zoom meetups with family and friends .. )
;)

That sounds not unreasonable. This time ill start with timescale planning and a spreadsheet

.
A VST 1-synth is an ideal stress test opportunity for new pc owners. It's also a reasonable test for the new PC.

Something today has inspired me...
Not a plug-in, but I feel it needs to be done!

Yes! The recent release of the free Kawai K1 plugin is calling for a K1-only track from the The Elf!
Super looking forward to seeing what you can do..!!

I have a hardware synth I'd like to explore and a plugin or 2 I havent used yet so would be keen to get involved this time round, regardless of any decision about restrictions

I do love a bit of synth banter...
I think really the point of the OSC is:
- to encourage people to make and share some music
- to encourage people to explore an instrument and see what's possible with it
- to show others what's possible with an instrument they may or may not be familiar with
The "rules" are fairly loose as I see it. Make and share a track with one synth is the main thing, and personally I think everything that fits into that is broadly OK - I don't think we want to turn off people who'd like to submit something because they weren't using the right synth or anything...
I guess if Dave gets something he feels is out of bounds, it won't make it in, but otherwise, fair game..! :)

Although I can't promise to have time to contribute, I would prefer to see the 'one synth' (= any synth) definition that Desmond suggests.

Well I definitely won't have something ready for 5 weeks but I will start working towards the next one - I think it could take a while! :)

I'm definitely in. I too have a plan for this one that's rather different for me in terms of how it's created, though it will be a hardware synth unless the rules stipulate otherwise
