Matriarch Schmatriarch

Look, I'm not going to have a go because SOS has reviewed another synth I'm not going to buy. But what annoys me about this one is the disgusting colour scheme and naff name. I hate it already and I haven't heard it. Does anyone like what Moog are doing there? :madas:

Broken record time...

Nearly two grand and an external PSU? And with a piece of weedy thin cable attached?

They might as well be laughing in our faces.

It could be the best-sounding synth ever made - they can keep it.

Just wait until some 3 chord EDM wonder has a mega hit that was written on the thing and then you’ll change your tune . . . . (sarcasm font off)

The only highly colourful synth that ever got me visually intrigued was the EMS Polysynthi, way back in 1978:

Ugh! I wouldn't touch one with a bargpole of epic propertions and all the anti-bacterial hand-gel I could muster!

With a friend I did build a Minisonic Mk2 - it never worked.

Roland’s Jupiter 8 always caught my eye. I now have one in Arturia modelled form.

It's a personal thing, but I rather like the bold 70s palette (the PSU is very silly). So many modern synths are conservative to the extreme. For instance, I wish DSI would hire somebody like Mark Braun for their next flagship, rather than toeing their current design ethos.

I like it, my Grandmother is the same, it makes a change from all that serious and rather macho black and grey.
There’s alway The One, if you want a serious polysynth, and as for external PSU's I don’t mind those either, it’s not important, but the sound is.
I won’t be getting one of these as the Grandmother does all I need, and if I were looking for a polysynth this wouldn’t be it, but the reason has got nothing to do with the looks.
