Finally got round to playing the K2000R

Postby Ben Asaro » Thu Apr 09, 2020 6:52 pm

I purchased a near-mint K2000R several weeks a go and barely had time in the intervening weeks to run through the presets but now that I'm home I've been able to dig through it looking for usable patches. I must say I'm rather impressed with the unit overall!

Here's a songwriting demo I'm working on, all of the synths (aside from the drums) are the K2000R. Used acoustic piano, trumpet section, strings, choir, and organ sounds. Just have the intro done so far, but I like where this is heading...

Warning: this is straight up prog rock. :)

Thanks! I'm going to see what other inspiring sounds are hiding in the K200R.

Very nice! I recently tried a software editor with my K5000r. Being able to visualize the parameters really helped me with the harmonic envelope settings. I have much greater respect for that synth. There’s some great sounds to be had.

If I may ask, which software editor did you use?

I’m using Midi Quest 12. It has a good patch editor for the K5000. But it’s pricey. Sound Diver had one but I’m not sure if it’s still available.

...Oh,and I’m using a Mac. And a MOTU Midi express XT.
