Behringer, Arpangel or the combination thereof?

I have come to appreciate and embrace the changeable nature of both :)

I think I can broadly predict what Behringer will do/say next....

Are you suggesting that Our Tony has become a little unpredictable? Perish the thought!

Who are you, and what have you done with the real Arpangel?! :D

I know, who am I? I feel like I’ve been possessed, I’m someone I don’t recognise anymore.
Synths are popping through the post all the time, I’m in danger of loosing my minimalist street cred, my basement is starting to look like something that should belong to Rick Wakeman.
Must be lockdown fever....

:D :D

Whilst it's great that they are announcing the MonoPoly, the 2600 should have been out a month ago. Has anyone heard any news on that? Especially a price point ..

I’m sure it will sound wonderful when it does come out, but I’m still not sold on it, I’m wondering, just how far can you deviate from the original form factor and looks of an original synth? before it looses its magic entirely.
It’s a bit like making an ARP2500 and putting it in condensed plastic case, third the size, getting rid of the knobs and switch matrix, and replacing them with buttons and a touch screen. The electronics and sound could be identical, but the alchemy and the way it works, the magic, would have gone.
I just wish Behringer could have followed Korg on how they did theirs, the Berry just looks too much of a compromise to me.

At which point it would be more relevant to the world as it is now, and probaby sell in the thousands.

Don't lose sight that most of Behringer's audience don't have any reverence for those crusty old machines that we loved. Which is probably how it should be...

I understand to a degree, but sometimes the way a synth actually operates mechanically, how you select and route things, is a major contributor to how you use it, and where you end up, and also, how it responds, sonically to what you do, get rid of those things, and it may destroy the way it nudges you in certain directions, it’s very character.
This isn’t a matter of what we call "magic" or something we can’t put our finger on, this is a definite fact, like the way a car feels and drives is it’s appeal.

That would be a challenge, I don’t think Behringer are very good at mechanicals though?

:)

I don't know... I could see it selling 11 or 12 units.

For those that have the room, a Zoom RFX is the next best thing.
