Joystick for Legacy Wavestation

Postby DanielBeach » Sun Jun 28, 2020 9:27 pm

Hi,

I love my Legacy Wavestation, but I don't have a keyboard/synth with a joystick on it. Does anybody know of any midi gizmos available which I could use? I feel I'm not getting full value out of my retro toy. :D

Also - any two MIDI CC controllers sending CC16 and 17 (from memory) would do just as well...

Aah, ok, thanks. Given my Korg NanoKontrol slidery thingy arrived today I'll allocate a couple of those sliders and see what happens

Korg Taktile range have an XY pad that should work. Perhaps the Korg Kaoss can be set up that way? I've also got a Kontrol 49 that has a joystick on it and I think some of the smaller korg controllers do too?

That's exactly what I used when I had a Wavestation SR and a Kenton Control Freak - I even found using the two sliders more useful in many cases than a combined joystick, because I could more precisely control each of the two parameters.

If you really do want a combined controller there are also plenty of XY touchpads around that you could press into service, such as the Korg Nanopad (whose feel I actually prefer to the XY touchpad on my Novation 25SL MkII controller).
