Worth fixing a Kurzweil K2VX?

Postby guerilladelphia » Tue Jun 30, 2020 4:29 pm

I have a Kurzweil K2VX that turns on. I hear a fan and only the floppy disk lights up. No display. Just blank and dimly lit. Midi doesn’t work. Question, is it worth fixing? And is a fair price to sell it as is $100 for parts/repair?

Thanks

They are very capable machines for their age, and sound great. It's a shame to see one broken down.

Without knowing what's wrong with it, it's impossible to say whether it's worth fixing or not. It could be something really simple in the power supply, something serious on the motherboard or anything in between.

Selling it for spares is an option but again, it's impossible to say what you'd get for it as the value of these things tends to be whatever someone will pay for it.

I'd suggest finding someone local with some electronics know-how and ask them if they'll take a quick look at it to see if it's anything obvious. If I owned one I would certainly want to get it fixed if possible.
