Which string library is this?

Postby The Elf » Fri Jul 03, 2020 4:22 pm

A few years ago, and in a different place... I used a string library (in Kontakt), where the legato articulations all displayed the delay required to place the body of the notes on the beat.

Which string library was that?

The delay time for each instrument (bass, cello, viola...) was displayed in ms on the left of the window. It was a fairly simple interface...

Was it Sospiro Strings?

I don't see a ms timer shown, but it does show a bar and beat slider for sustain lengths. It also has a 'smart release' feature for swells so that on key release the playback jumps forward to a known offset prior to the beat in order to complete the swell: https://youtu.be/3fuMKDyEx6s?t=44

Thanks, Eddy.

No it's not that one.

I had this library bought and installed on the old PC, but I've somehow lost it during an upgrade. I just cannot recall what it was. I think it looked a lot like Cinematic Studio Strings, but it definitely reported the delay time in ms for legato articulations when you loaded each instrument. It was a fairly simple interface IIRC.

I can't find it in my backups, and because I make it a point to render all instruments as audio it isn't referenced in any of my old songs.

I'm stumped - but I feel sure it's the library I need right now!

I don't suppose it's this custom script someone put together for CSS...?

http://alexjevincent.co.uk/css-control-panel/

(I found it linked to this discussion about getting its legato in sync.)

Thanks. BJG.

No, this was definitely just an off-the-shelf library. I recall seeing a YouTube video where it was mentioned, but I've even gone back through my YT history to 2016 and I still can't see it.

This is crazily frustrating! :headbang:

I have my history back to day 1 - it's been a life-saver!

Nothing on there I feel the need to hide.

FWIW this section of the CSS demo on YT has a slide showing the delay for each of its legato types.

It’s not the delay time that is important to me. It is rather the content of that library.
