One of these days, you're going to prove it with some nice 'without K1 / K1 alone / with K1" recordings...

I did create some examples here a few years back. I'm happy to do it again some time - it's a trick I use a lot!

Sorry I missed them first time - yes, I would be really interested to hear some examples, thank you.

Here it is - a work in progress and strictly only of interest if you have an SH-201:

Korg DS8.

I loved this synth because it was the dirtiest FM synth I have ever programmed. In fact, almost all my early songs were crafted on this, an EPS 16+ and an Emax.

The joystick made for funky slaps and bends and the damn things was always cheap to buy as many were opting for the DX series.

The only dirtier version was the Korg 707.

In yellow.

Wonder how those ones look these days...

Always loved my Ensoniq EPS. Even though I eventually 'upgraded' to an Akai S1100 sampler I always felt the EPS was a far more musical machine.

Both got good reviews back in the day as 'friendly FM' (guess where you can find the reviews) but from memory, the 707 could save the slider-based edits, whereas the DS-8 couldn't.
Or perhaps it was the other way around :headbang:

Yeah, I don't like to mention it more often than about every 3rd posting.

I'm going to throw Technics WSA1R into the mix - just bought one as seems really unique and interesting but not much loved!

Just noticed one advertised - somewhere beginning with ‘Cash’... £549. I thought that was the one you had gone for until I just checked. Don’t know if that constitutes good value or just the price one was last sold on eBay.

They were highly regarded, or at least got good reviews, when released.

...ay, it's certainly a classic, being one of the few hardware implementations of physical modelling alongside the Yamaha VL series and the Wavedrum...
