Sampling keyboard, any recommendations?

Postby Arpangel » Sat Sep 12, 2020 11:36 am

My partner has this idea about using a sampler for her voice, and I’m being prompted in no uncertain terms to find her something.
I was thinking along the lines of the old semi-toy Yamaha samplers, it needs to have no more than about 2/3 octaves, but must be capable of sampling via an external mic, or line input, with on-board editing.
I’ve been through all the gear listings and can’t seem to find anything, it’s either a sampling "box" or nothing. I did think of the OP1, but it doesn’t have proper keys, which wouldn’t suite my partner.

This might be worth a gander, I nearly bought one myself a few years ago, given how complicated the Kronos is to do quick and dirty sampling!
Paul liked it and he’s a good authority in my book.

Thanks, looks good, just a matter of finding one.

They only do controller keyboards, or drum based boxes.

No. Floppy disks have had their time in the sun; it's time to move on.

I know. I wonder if that eBay one was the one I sold along with a crate of floppies maybe 20 years ago.

Along with my small high spec mixer, it seems like this is another hole in the market.

You could always swap out the floppy drive with an SD Floppy emulator...
