As Eddy has said he didn't use the Hydrasynth, I'm going with the MatrixBrute

I'm going to have a proper listen to these later and make a wild guess. Track 10 is neat. I'm wondering if it might be Desmond or Eddy.

OK!
Last track - rerecorded it, eq'd it, output it, ran it through a mores code decipher.
I can announce to the world with some level of confidence and pride that the message is..................
"B OA GTEKTE/TLITT"
I thank you!

I had the same thought...
IAA wrote:Track 13 - Can’t comment but Desmond nailed the VST!!! I’d little realised how limited it truly was back in the day
It's a truly terrible *synthesizer* - like I say, if you stick to the (limited) samples, it can sound ok, but there's little to do to disguise them, no filter, and without a filter that digital waveforms are next to useless. But there are some attractive/usable sounds in there, and I've been reacquainted with some of them since Nils' released the plugin.
Having said that, I'm strangely glad to have it back (virtually), and I did use mine to death because back then I needed all the polyphony I could get (pre-DAW).
I had another listen through in the car while I was waiting for someone, and I'll pick through the clues everyone's leaving here and add my comments and guesses shortly...

Interesting...

At this point I've been called out enough that it seems daft to play coy - I am track 12, well done folks :-)
Not a Hydrasynth or a MatrixBrute though!

I wrote that in my initial notes (which I'm currently updating for posting):
Track 12 - arpeg. prophet 5 again? (analogue) big. actually huge. Eddy?
Monster track - well done!

Thanks Desmond... not a Prophet 5 either. Also, no arpeggiators were used, it's all played by hand although I did tweak a few timings here and there after the fact ;)

Yes, that was just a note for me to remember which track was which, not necessarily a technical note - and the P5 was not a final guess, just an initial thought). I haven't posted my proper guesses yet, you just got in before me...
I think the thing more than anything else than made me think it was you was there's a sort of flourishy thing done in the lead parts at times that I could totally see you doing while soloing away...

Re: One Synth Challenge V - The Filter Strikes Back!
What made me suspect Eddy for number 12, was the overall playing style and detail. This was clearly someone who was very experienced and at home on the keyboard.
Oh, and one of your guesses for me was right - so there's someone here who now knows for sure which one
P.S but they can't say anything without then revealing which was theirs :bouncy:

I was thinking of throwing a dice to guess at Eddy's synth, but they don't make them with enough sides

What! You're a developer and didn't think of writing a python script to synthesize a 13 sided dice?Rich Hanson wrote:I was thinking of throwing a dice to guess at Eddy's synth, but they don't make them with enough sides
Don't forget it has to skip actual value 7
