But then...
What's the difference between aggressively multi-track recording a mono synth, and just mildly multi-tracking a poly synth

Re: One Synth Challenge V - The Filter Strikes Back!
I have actually used monosynths on a couple of challenges and built up chords that way. But it can be tedious. As a general rule, I'm in favour of keeping the rules relaxed and letting people do their own thing : we've had all sorts of interesting synths from dirt cheap monos to obscenely priced polys and they have all been used in interesting ways. And I think that that is a good thing.

Yes, a lot of extra effort! Actually though, I would create the pad sounds using a poly synth and then explode the chords into separate tracks of monosynth. I’m not sure that doing this would add anything to the creative process!

Maybe you wouldn't build up pads. Maybe you'd think more 'contrapuntally', or more texturally, or whatever; working with the monophonic nature of the beast rather than against it. Maybe you'd do something completely different.

Just because you've built more wall than the Donald doesn't mean the rest of us don't have jobs to do! ;)

That's why I need this. To distract myself from the thickos I'm supposed to be helping all day.
