Re: Karp 2600M
No one is going to tell me that if you want a 2600 that bad you won’t be able to make space for that extra 40%.
Why? It’ll produce those sort of sniggers, again, it looses the vibe, the original is an imposing inspiring instrument before you’ve played a note, and come on, if space really is that much of an issue, you’ll be using software anyway.
No, it makes no sense to me.
Korg, please just make more, of the full size.

I rather like the look of that personally. Smaller than the origninal, yes, but from the pictures it looks eminently usable and makes better use of space.
If it's reaonably priced and hits the mass market as opposed to being a hard-to-get limited edition I would certainly consider getting one.

Throwing all logic aside Eddy :D
There is definitely a major presence, vibe thing about the 2600, I can remember seeing one for the first time, in the flesh, whooaa! You can’t ignore it in the room, and the black ones were always slightly sinister looking, you’ve got to have all that, otherwise it doesn’t work for me.

I know what you mean. The 2500 looks like something from a Baikonur Cosmodrome control room.
The 2600 looks like it's deciding the most efficient nuclear strikes, because it feels like it.
This new one does look cute though.

Interesting. I do think that Korg have priced it slightly high, but it does offer an alternative for those who despair at Behringer's business practices. Which can't be bad.
Will I get one? Possibly.

The 2500 yes, very menacing, I saw one in Chase Musicians, blew me away.

I see little point in this device. Behringer has the jump on it, and has actually turned out a better design IMHO. And then there will be the price...

I'd buy it immediately if I could afford it. It's three times the price of the Behringer, but if it sounds like the 2600 FS it's exactly what I want (short of an actual FS). If it's not a limited edition, the price will probably drop by quite a bit after a few months. I might be able to get one then.

Re: Karp 2600M
I've had both the 2500 and 2600 and, maybe this is just me, there was nothing really special about the 2600, certainly not the orange face. Now, if you throw a Grey Meanie at me I'll grab it in a heartbeat. It was all about the design nicked Moog ladder filter.

The filters are only half the story of the 2600... sadly Behringer neglected the other half and so it doesn't sound anything like a 2600... it sounds "nice" but it's just NOT a 2600... at all
I look forward to trying this new Korg as have been waiting for it.. if the Korg doesn't deliver then it will be the Antonus 2600 for me

Well, I can only go on someone who has an original grey-face 2600, and now has played a Behringer 2600. He says they sound as near as two originals.Chevytraveller wrote:The filters are only half the story of the 2600... sadly Behringer neglected the other half and so it doesn't sound anything like a 2600... it sounds "nice" but it's just NOT a 2600... at allThe Elf wrote:I always adored the orange livery - and with both filters on the Behringer...
