Recommendations for a travelling midi keyboard

Postby emptybe » Mon Feb 22, 2021 9:39 am

Hi Peeps,
I need a(nother) keyboard for when I'm working away. My M-audio Keystation Mini 32 fell to bits after a few trips and was awful to play on so I need a decent replacement. I've seen plenty of options but anything with full sized keys seems to have a really big footprint. Can anyone recommend something that has:
- 25-32 keys (full size preferred but I could maybe live with mini keys if they had some feel to them but the M-Audio was terrible).
- a proper mod wheel
- small footprint/light
- durable enough to travel o/s
- a few extra rotary controllers a bonus

I think anything with full size keys and a proper mod/pitch wheel is going to be north of 49 keys.

IRig Keys 2 Pro (slightly over your key count, but full-sized):

I use one as my 'sofa' keyboard and sometimes as the top layer in my 3-keyboard live rig. For the money it's a decent machine.

They recently (about time!) released an ASIO driver for it, so fixing the only major gripe I had about it.
