Korg Volca Modular – Can you use sturdier patch cords?

I played around with one of these recently and whilst it was fun I was concerned that the patch cords might not last that long as they are so thin.
So is it possible to use a thicker patch cord with it?

I can't see why not, as long as the plugs have identical dimensions.

I've done more research and they are readily available if they fall apart.
