It may be the amp output socket isn't quite right, so has then damaged the cable connector. Which may then happen to the new connector! Hard to tell without taking everything apart.

I've just been going over some old posts I made and I suddenly realised, I never wrote a follow-up for this! Oops :tongue:

Long-story-short, the 4-pole cables I ordered worked perfectly! At this point, there was no difference between the speakers and cables -even when going back and forth between the two speakers and cables. Hurrah!

Anyway, I'm simply updating this post to show that replacing the old cables was the fix and nothing more was required! Since then, I've also bought a cheap set of Munro Egg speakers for parts. So, if anything goes wrong (touch wood), I'll always have replacements on-hand.
