My MOTU 828 Mk3 Firewire is getting very warm

Postby Gone To Lunch » Thu Jun 20, 2019 1:48 pm

I am concerned to note my MOTU 828 Mk3 Firewire is getting very warm after an hour or two of running.

I had it repaired a few months back - it was getting hot and giving off a fishy burning smell.

Currently there is just the warmth, no smell.

I got in 2010 - so what is the likely prognosis ?

Good I would say. The unit pulls a hefty 35 watts from the mains, try getting hands close to a 40W incandescent lamp!

Thanks, that is helpful. I have left it on since posting, 11 hrs now, and it is still just warm ie no overheating and no smell.

So I guess I will have to find something else to hang my neurosis on...
