Yep, a couple of inches of acoustic caulk squeezed into the gap. In fact I'm just waiting on that setting before I can reattach the front panels and restore power to the place.

As to the concerns around the protrusion of a brittle structure - yep, add it to the list of compromises. But as Hugh says, once the acoustic treatment is in place they will have a degree of protection from the frames of the acoustic treatment.
This will become apparent in future updates... ;)

Further progress on the inside is currently on hold whilst I wait for the quality manager to visit next week.
Vexingly the sound meter i bought appears to be faulty. :(

That's amazing, I'd love a space like that!

Excellent work Drew, and so smart!

Looking forward to hearing music compositions emerging from this new and inspiring space.

Nice work, looking very tidy. I'm a big fan of the hammer-stack-press by the way

If you do find the sockets a bit vulnerable and you do hit them from time to time, then maybe you could cut out some deep acoustic foam panels to go found them and provide some more protection for the sides.

Thanks folks, and that's a good shout Wonks - pretty confident it won't be a problem, but I've been confident before... ;)

Won’t the room be full with all your instruments?
Or do they still live in the house? (For safety of course!)

I only have 9 1/2 guitars.
And a mandolin.
And an accordion.
And a couple of keyboards.

Oh yes, and a double bass - but it's only 3/4 size...

Nice weather today so got a bit more done. Started working on the corner bass traps. There'll be a frame in each corner with a stack of rockwool top and bottom.
Basic frame:

Two frames painted and done:

Would have got a bit further but lost time correcting a piece of previous muppetry that I hadn't noticed until I started working on the second frame. :headbang:

It was ever thus.

The two frames in the second picture are tall but not particularly wide, whilst the frame in the first picture is short but very wide, and they were all supposed to be the same? :D
