you can never have too much bass trapping
I think you should stop when you’ve eliminated the standing waves or when there’s no room for you and your equipment.

But then I'd have no excuse not to be actually doing something musical. ;)

(I am getting a bit tired of the joinery and DIY now).

Well then, you need to have extensive listening tests to check the room. ;)

Are you planning any test recordings there? I would be very interested to hear a "before & after" sound demo of the space as my study/io is a middle bedroom, 3x4x3, plasterboard carpet & artex, ?

Way back on page 4 of the thread there's a link to a youtube vid of a short accapella, in fact, here it is again: https://youtu.be/pJnGeDsly6M
I'm going to repeat that a couple of times when i'm done, with the absorbers in their different positions.
I also took a set of measurements on REW that I will repeat and post the comparisons.
Still a surprising amount of work to do yet though.

even with the plywood floor exposed, my room is more damped.

I know it’s been a long slog, Drew, but every minute spent gets you closer to a cool space. And then we won’t hear from you anymore as you’ll be recording your masterworks!

Fixed that for you! ;)

More seriously I have got my next 6 EPs planned out with all the songs ready to start, plus at least two EPs worth of stuff with the band. But I think we're approaching the home stretch, well, it's in sight, maybe, definitely in mind. Probably.

I'll second that. It's very easy to get lost in the building and setting up, but once everything is up and running it's well worth it.

But once the studio is finished you'll move straight on to building your net kit guitar, so you don't actually have to use the studio.

Well, there's the next kit guitar, redoing the bastard project guitar, making a grot-box speaker out of one of my old Missions, making some decorative lights for the studio, and probably something else i'm forgetting too.

Oh yes, some bathroom cabinets and shelves to put up in the house as well.

Should give me plenty of excuses for a while...

Spent a fair bit of time on it this weekend but not sure the progress really shows. Lots of measuring-twice going on.
Anyway, pre-stressed overhead beams:

Lifted into place and with bracing struts:

Test panel hung:

I may have over-engineered the frame a bit - I can do a pull-up on it! :)
Still, it shouldn't sag in the middle when all the panels are up and that was the main thing I was going for. :)

Cheers Eddy, I'm actually thinking of taking next weekend off as I'm completely shattered, but we'll see how much sleep I get this week. :)

Maybe just this:
