John Hardy 990c+ vs JE918 opamps?

Postby dickiefunk » Sat Feb 08, 2020 1:39 am

Hi,

I have a pair of Warm Audio TB12 Tonebeasts and am looking to upgrade the x918 stock opamp.
The Hardy 990c+ seems like a very popular choice but I noticed that the company Revive Audio chose the JE918 opamp in their upgrade mods? I’ve heard audio clips of the Warm TB12 and Hardy 990c+ and whilst the difference is small there is a noticeable difference in how much cleaner and detailed the upgrade makes.
Has anyone had any experience with both of these opamps? Which would you recommend out of these two opamps? Is there any better alternatives?
