Ultrasonic mic jammer- for real?

Postby Smellthevalve » Thu Feb 20, 2020 8:16 pm

Saw this advertised

Apparently it's supposed to stop 'commodity microphones' from working properly; not sure if this is a new idea or something that's been tried before?

Ive seen similar things used before, and it would be relatively easy to engineer against if necessary as it relies primarily on inter-modulation distortions in the (cheap) impedance converter built into the back of 'commodity' electret mics or in the MEMS mics used in mobile phones and similar devices.

Not exactly a subtle 'braclet' for jamming, though, is it? And I bet the pet Labrador would be quite upset by it!, too :-)
