Getting it on here?

Postby matt222 » Tue Jan 19, 2016 9:53 pm

Can anyone tell me an easy way of posting a short demo on here for some well-needed opinion?

I've been rattling on of late to you guys about this and that and now, I have something to post so at least you can hear what all my fussing has been about. I'm really keen to get some brutally honest advice.

But I'm awful on my computer and am really struggling to work out how to post something on here.

I'm on Windows xp and have my music in a Windows Media Player file.

Thanks.

Most people upload to soundcloud and then post a link.

You can't upload directly here.
Upload to the Internet Archive, or Soundcloud
then copy a link to your file here.

I've registered with Soundcloud, made 6 attempts, I just have 6 songs on there now with a clicking sound repeating itself!

Everything I try that involves a computer goes wrong. I can't be wired up right?

I used to have that problem, as a student when I walked into the computer room everyone used to save whatever they were doing just in case...
What browser are you using?

Sounds like corrupted sound files. Do the raw files play in Windows Media Player?

Yup, that's certainly one corrupt file. It has a zero length.

It would be worth trying a different format when you rip. Try a wav file.

I'm utterly lost. Thank God I didn't go for a DAW!

Could it have something to do with the fact that Windows Media Player describes the song as 'Protected Content ' ?

Hmmm... it went 'click' for me. :frown:

I presume your 'native' files are .WAVs or some other uncompressed format prior to the CD burn on your 'portastudio'. Could you try uploading the mastered version of one of those rather than a WMA?

... and on another note... if somehow you're burning CDs from WMAs that could be where your 'funny sound' on the CD is coming from... May not be of course, but just a thought.

Gotta be honest - it would be easier with a DAW! Cubase, for instance, has a direct interface with Soundcloud!

I suspect the problem may be something to do with your rip. You are still going with a compressed format (WMA), and that may be causing a problem. I've seen odd problems with WMA before.

I just burn the CD in the Tascam, put it into the PC, copy music, save in MY MUSIC.
