Even worse, I've literally just heard from my supplier that they no longer deal with Zoom products, and they can't deliver at all now, so I've been let down on all fronts.

I need a re-think... I'm going to bump my Presonus query.

It's too early to get a rough idea of price but I have a feeling it'll be somewhere in the region of "too much for me to afford"

Still, it looks bloody good.

All I read is "less than 1000€"

here's from Zoom site: https://www.zoom.co.jp/products/production-recording/live-sound-recording/livetrak-l-20

it also comes with iPad wireless control... this can probably mitigate the pain of not having moving faders

Yep! Too much for me then!

Hopefully if and when my Tascam gives up the ghost the L-20 will be reduced in price sufficiently!

Nice. Think I might have to get one. I loved the idea of the L12, but it didn't have enough inputs for my needs. This ticks all the boxes. Yum!

We're pretty much committed to the rig as it is now. Let's see when they arrive in the stores...

No recallable gain settings and only BT wireless with an add in adapter. It's less featured than an XR18 for a lot more money just to have a surface and the onboard recording.

I know what you mean, but I do know people who are really wary of not having some faders to grab hold of.

But I agree wholeheartedly with the wireless thing. Bluetooth via adapters seems a tad odd - you'd think that they'd just go the distance and have approved wifi adapters. Like others do. Ah well.

Also, I was chatting with a band mate who is looking at trying to sort out a band PA for his other band and the L12 and new L20 both came up in discussions as kit he was interested in. So the feature set / price balance seems to be striking a chord somewhere..

I think it strikes a chord with those that are nervous to go digital.

If you think about it, an x32 Compact or Producer isn't that much more money and has tons more features. But of course the learning curve is pretty high, and much higher than even the XR18.

I think that that's a little unfair. I know that there are some analogue diehards out there, but I think it is more of the paradigm shift in going to a 'stage box and an iPad'. Even I didn't want to do that, so I went for the QSC as a halfway house.

Yes, the x32 range is more featured, but it is also a few hundred quid more expensive. And sometimes that can be the thing which tips the balance.

Anyway, we'll see how it all pans out. Should be interesting. :)
