Ready to roll...

Postby Mike Stranks » Wed Dec 05, 2018 2:50 pm

I've spent the morning prepping a rack for a 'simple' install tomorrow. Speakers are already in place so just the cabling, testing and tweaking for 'set and forget' to do...

... But as the old sweats know, these 'simple' jobs can sometimes prove to be anything but... Hence the full toolkit will accompany me...

My motto: better to be looking at it than looking for it.

Always prepare for the worst. Best of luck.

All went well...

At about 1am I realised that I hadn't drilled enough cable entry/exit holes - it's a locked rack... This AM realised that by moving and then reinstalling the lowest item in the rack I could route via one of the bottom vents. So that's what I did...

Only other glitch was that the back rack door wouldn't lock however I configured it. In the end I dismantled the lock and reassembled it in a different config. Success.

All worked first time... no fiddling about required. Happy client; happy me... now to submit my invoice... :)

Martin

Funnily enough, when I said about my invoice his effusive thanks for what I'd done stopped for a second or two - as did the beaming smile. "Oh; I'd forgotten that we hadn't paid yet..."

But it was between friends... so they get my time and knowledge for free and just pay cost for the kit.

Now... where's the Pledge for my halo!

And if the money isn't forthcoming, you could always mention the evil Stranks twin...
