Time Align Question - Help

Postby funky54 » Mon Sep 02, 2019 6:18 pm

ok here’s a weird one... in the past for larger venues I ran 4X Bag End 12” 2way speakers for mains.

Two were model TA 12-c and two were TA 1200-c. The smaller 1200’s I only used for larger venues out further into the room, almost side wash mains..

I had 1X TA 12-c stollen. (That’s one of my large cabinet ones)

Since these are Time Aligned and so much is put into the design for maximum sound, I realize I shouldn’t mess with the Engineered Design. But here’s my question..

I do have a third TA1200c that is not being used. I’m tempted to gut it and build an exact duplicate cabinet of the TA-12C and assemble it with the TA1200c parts. The specs are VERY CLOSE. But how much will that jack with the science behind the Time Align Design?

Here’s the specs:
TA 12-c (Large Cabinet)
Frequency Response 70 hz to 19 kHz
Time offset 25 microseconds
System type 2-way ported 2.4 ft
Time Align EQ filter type 3.3 HZ
Sensitivity 103dB 1 watt / 1 watt
Dispersion 90H x 40V
200 continuous sine / 800 peak
Dimensions 23 x 18 x 15

TA 1200-c (Small Cabinet)
Frequency Response 75hz to 20 kHz
Time Offset 25 microseconds
System Type 2-way vented 1.1ft
Time Align EQ Filter 2.5 khz
Sensitivity 101dB 1 watt / 1 watt
Dispersion 80H x 60V
200 continuous sine / 800 peak
Dimensions 21.5 x 14.5 x 12

So what say the smart people? Could I build an exact match of the larger cabinet and put the smaller cabinet guts into it, and still have a good sound?
