When I needed to get one of my DXR12's repaired I used this company

https://www.sseaudio.com/Group/Locations as they were a Yamaha authorised repair centre. I used the Redditch site (I don't remember seeing a Manchester location at that time) but this was only 10 minutes away from one of my offices so ok for me.

Turnaround was pretty quick.

That looks like it's part of the power supply, which is, I think, switch mode. They are the work of the devil to fix and definitely not a DIY job (unless you are Dave or Will) and what has caused it to fail could be one of many things which even an experienced tech might take some time to trace. But, while I don't know how old your DXRs are, don't forget Yamaha's 7 year warrantee (you did register them didn't you?) so contact Yamaha's customer services first off.

Without better context it's hard to tell from that image where in the system that component sits. But it is a 'choke' or 'inductor'.

The power supply is a switch-mode type, so it could be part of that, or it could be part of one of the amplifier modules. There must be a pretty major fault somewhere for that to burn out though.

That's a symptom of a serious fault in my view - it needs an expert to look at it.

Stuff breaks... nothing lasts for ever...

And according to those schematics you posted, there are two fuses on the board. One on the incoming Live mains feed, and one on the feed from the bridge rectifier into the SMPS. But fuses take time to blow, and other components can often react faster!

Can appreciate that but what input (been told the input signal was problem) can reach those amps to blow the inductor coil

I'd imagine it was a severe and sustained overload...

I'd suggest that it was probably a component failure elsewhere in the circuit and not something you've done. That's why it needs an experienced technician to look at it as simply replacing the inductor won't fix the real problem.

Well the choke blew big time and my question is, speakers fall over which mine have carting in on a trolley, if the choke ring was cracked would that cause a blow? I do have a picture its in bits now but also checking the the bridge and the capacitor any help appreciated

Sorry to hear about your issue with the DXR15. I bought mine just after they were released almost 8 years ago and they have been 100% rock solid and reliable. There has been a few occasions where a couple of engineers made some rookie errors and completely overloaded the inputs to the point where the clip light was permanently on for almost a whole minute. The sound was excruciating loud and I was expecting some or all of the drivers to blow and possibly some failure within the amp but amazingly they survived with no issues. One of them also got dropped onto a concrete floor from almost 1 metre and again I was expecting the cabinet to either be cracked or some component damage inside but surprisingly there was only a small mark on the outside of the cabinet and no internal component damage!

It may be frustrating to not understand quite how the fault occurred but another reason to have it repaired by a professional who be able to assess what the likely cause was on order to avoid it happening again.
