Behringer P16 with Shure IEM

Postby Clint1093 » Wed Mar 11, 2020 11:12 am

HI all, sorry if this has been covered before but I’m trying to find out which 1/4” jack plugs I need to connect my Shure PSM300 IEM to a Behringer P16 either stereo or mono jacks?
Many thanks.

I'd use TR ('mono') jacks. The Shure has L and R balanced inputs on TRS jacks, but the Behringer only has TS jack unbalanced line outputs (a cheapskate engineering decision there). Use the L and R line outputs on the Behringer.

I use balanced cables regardless. I've never regretted this.

Not 'stereo' - 'balanced'. This may seem pedantic, but understanding the difference and using the correct terminology may save you from trouble at some point! ;)

But the OP should note that using TRS to TRS jacks doesn't give you a balanced signal. You get the same signal out from the Behringer regardless of using TS or TRS jack cables.
