iPhone sound minus 1 is so noisy

Postby csarami@ncsu.edu » Thu Mar 04, 2021 5:01 pm

Hi,

I have connected my iPhone to an input channel of my MG12XU and have compression and gain to zero. I hear the person on the phone very noisy in my headphones connected to MG. The PFL meter when they are speaking is around -20dbFS.

How can I adjust it so that the sound is not noisy, please?

Impossible to diagnose from that brief description.

I'd bear in mind that mobile phone codecs can suffer a lot of modulation noise artefacts, but I'd be looking at connection issues first...

I presume the 'noise' of which you complain goes up and down as you adjust the input channel gain?

And what's the minus-1 got to do with it?

Thank you, Hugh!

In fact, it was a "connection issue". I had bought a new TRRS splitter and the microphone cable was labeled not correctly (believe it or not!) I hear it just fine! But I have issues leveling the sound that I will post in another thread!
