Review of Roland Boutique Synths

Postby Vyv » Fri Sep 09, 2016 11:18 pm

I'm glad I impulse-bought my Roland JX-03 before catching up with Gordon Reid's review from back in February! It would certainly have put me off, but maybe it's worth pointing out they've now updated the firmware, which sorts out the lack of MIDI CC response and sequencer sync.

I think it's a sensational synth for the money, (I had a JX-3P back in the eighties), but I'm integrating it with a modular so limited polyphony and a forest of flimsy mini-jacks comes with the territory. It's a four-voice polyphonic synth for the price of a Eurorack utility module!

This does raise the question of the possibility of adding an addendum to a review when something important that is addressed in the text changes after publication?
