Outside World - Adventures in Field Recording

Postby Mike Stranks » Thu Jan 18, 2018 12:30 pm

Fascinating article in the Feb magazine....

Quite a shocker to read of the relatively modest gear that Ian Brennan sometimes uses - including that forum bete-noire, the AKG C1000.

Other kit he uses would almost be recorded as 'toys' by some...

A salutary lesson in the world of matching preamps to mics and other agonies - and mega-spends - that people go through in search of the holy grail of the perfect sound.

Performance before gear every time... :)

(I'm not sure I'd be quite so laid-back as Ian seems to be about the 'abuses' some of his gear gets... but still...)

At least if the wildlife decides to attack you, a C1000 could beat off most predators and still work afterwards.

I agree with Mike - thoroughly entertaining read.
