SOS March 2018 dropped onto my doormat this morning, and after eagerly reading the Sounding Off by Dennis Wilkins I just had to post some good news for him ;)
Yes, I entirely agree that 64-bit Reaper is great at reading 32-bit VST plug-ins via its own integral bridge.
However, it's not true when Dennis says "a 64-bit DAW cannot use any of my venerable DX/DXi plug-ins". Reaper does this just as easily as it deals with 32-bit plug-ins - you just need to tick the appropriate box in this preferences dialog:
I know this option works, because I am currently using Reaper 64-bit myself, with a collection of 64-bit, 32-bit, and yes, even some ancient DirectX plug-ins.
Happy to be the bearer of some good news for a change!
