Just curious -
New issues appear about 10 days before the traditional months end. I can't remember why. I assume you aren't all superheroes who have their own time/space continuum happening!
But one never knows.
Please refresh my aging memory.

It seems to be a tradition throughout the magazine industry. As a youngster in the 70's I subscribed to Practical Wireless which usually appeared on the 5th or 6th of the month before the month on the cover.

Back in the day computer magazines would appear well over a month early, it was ridiculous. An article in Personal Computer World (God rest its soul) explained that this had developed over time as magazines tried to gain competitive advantage by appearing to be, say, the June issue while all its competitors appeared to be May.

Surely this is all the fault of Christmas?

Paul, Hugh and Co want to be winding down and junketing for a week or two before and after the 25th* which means the December issue will be done, dusted and on the stands towards the end of November.

The whole country goes into daft uselessness a week before the event except for us poor sods that have to fix the tellies. NEVER got Crimble eve off and back at it day after Boxing day...Even then some 1/2 ***'ed *****d could come knocking on your door at 10:30am wanting service!

*I jest of course.

I thought the original argument was that June's issue would show you what was going to be available / showing / screening / on a the local dance hall in June.
