Is it possible to upload pictures and/or embed them directly into a post?

I would like to include some screenshots of my audio set up to make it easier for others to help me out.

Thanks,

Audio Jungle

It is not possible to upload pictures to the forum. You can, however, upload your images to one of the online image host sites and when you make your post here you can use the Img tag to insert the link from your image host.

Most folks seem to use imgur, or their own webspace. I used to use Google photos but kept having random permission errors so switched to imgur.

So how do I post a screenshot here?

When I tried in another thread it failed...

Here is what I did...

- Went to Imgur
- Was very happy to see I don't need to create an account!
- Took a screenshot on my Mac
- Pasted it into Imgur
- Imgur created a URL
- I came here, and in another thread click on the [img] tag
- I pasted the URL in between these tags
- And then I say a red URL link
- When I click on the link it said there was an error

The mistake i made at first was to paste a url of the imgur page, not the pic itself. Did the url you posted above end in .jpg (or other picture format) or something else?

You used the URL of the page but not the image. In Firefox on Windows you can right click on the image and choose "Copy image location" and then paste that into the markup for an image on the forum. I don't know how to do this with a browser you would use on a Mac but try to view only the image (view image?) and get the URL, It ends in .png

https://i.imgur.com/J3vOkhK.png

You embed it on the forum between the img tags like this...

Code: Select all
[img]https://i.imgur.com/J3vOkhK.png[/img]

I would have expected a way to get this link directly from imgur (one of the sharing or embedding options) but perhaps they don't want to make it easy.
So doing what I said above for your image (the next line of my text contains that markup and you should see the image below)...

You do the same thing; right-click in Safari and Firefox on Mac and select "Copy image address" [Safari] and "Copy image location" [Firefox].

Took me a while to get it sorted as well.

And the benefit of doing it this way is that clicking on the image shows a larger view (if your image is bigger, of course).

Glad you got the hang of it.

FYI, there is an FAQ in the Feedback forum explaining how to do it. It's called FAQ: How To Post Images In SOS Forum
