Spam was mostly popular in war time when it was one of the few meats not rationed. I expect that is the contributor to it being a British staple.

As before still showing "2 new messages" which don't exist. I've tried logging out, closing browser, restarting browser & log back in again - but no change, still 2 new messages (Firefox on Linux Mint, if it makes any difference).
