All right lads, do your worst!

Let's get some life in here.

Had an idea to post a backing track and have anyone who chooses to, to add leads, on the instrument of their choosing and posting their work back here. I don't care if it's a kazoo or a fart fed into a sampler, if you feel the urge, do it. It could be percussion or if people want I'll provide stems and they could take any rhythm part. If you're a lurker, your a shirker. I'd like to make this a regular thing, I have a bunch of stuff I could contribute.

I'd like to get mixers in on this too. We could all give stems and have people have a go at mixing and arranging a song using the bits we come up with. It'd be valuable input for me to have others to critique my stems say more of this, less of that for the mix to sit the way they hear it instead of trying to fix crap.

We'll work out the details, feedback welcome.

I'm going to start this off with a blues jam. I'm going to post a link to a backing track you can listen to and decide if you want to play. If so, I'll provide either stems or a stereo wav. I'll enable downloads of the mp3 so you can start jamming/ practicing. It's rough, scratch guitar and bass to program the drums. Turn-arounds are repetitive, I do have more. Real drums would be a treat. The BPM will be in the file name. Only effects are from any presets on amp sims. Other than that just rough levels. Left it rough for preview, people who contribute can have all stems. I'll redo parts no one else takes re; backing tracks.

To recap, this is open to anyone from arrangers to mixers to musicians. If I don't know you, introduce yourself and have a seat. Just make sure you have your instrument. You can chop it up or whatever you feel, nothing is locked in place or set in stone, just getting the ball rolling.

Here's the link, Blooze 115 Posted link to main page, this should be better. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_so ... D=13550514

Lads? Is this closed to women for some reason, then?

Sorry for the auto play on the SC player, never had it do that and don't know how to shut the damned thing off. Been a long time since I've listened to my own tunes so maybe it's a new thing on SC. :headbang:

Lot of plays, quite a few DL's but no punters. :chin:

You do realize these are scratch tracks and bad takes purposely put in, right? Posted this version so that if visitors grabbed the tracks they'd have sub-par ones that were maybe OK to jam to but not the real deal. That, and to give the ourve of the project. The good stems will be provided for the participants.

Figured a blues jam would appeal to the broadest sector and the easiest to start with. Too easy? Want something else? Just lack of interest as a whole?

It seems to be very difficult to get collaborators, not just here, but right across all sites/forums. Feels a bit like trying to push string :(

Yeah, unfortunately I know. Didn't know if it had to do with fear of one's work being used/ stolen so I offered a sacrifice. Seems the gods are not appeased. Maybe if I make it a dare to beat what I do... :chin:. I'll run through a few takes and see what comes out. :headbang:

I'm interested and like the general idea but find the link confusing. Which is the relevant track? I wouldn't mind having a go at Crick Holler Stomp. Some nice tracks and playing.

Yes agreed , thought that was a real stand out track back when Mashed Mitten introduced himself , so many places to take that track I think.

Hey guys, pulled the sketch from SC. It was just a sketch of a blues jam. Decided to make it the first project on the new system so I've just started tackling it. If there's interest I could re-post a snippet and see what flies.

Crick Holler Stomp is finished except for proper mix and master. Thanks for the comments, it was fun to do.
