"How do I edit or delete a post?" FAQ is only about edit

Postby CS70 » Tue Sep 06, 2016 2:56 pm

Hi, just made a wrong post and was looking for a way to delete it. Couldn't find one, so headed to the FAQ.. but the text of the question titled "How do I edit or delete a post?" doesn't say anything about deleting. :)

You can edit your posts within 45 minutes of posting it -- and that editing facility includes the ability to delete the content of the post, but not the post's 'place holder' .

The reason for the time limit is to minimise the risk of confusion if other responders start quoting a post which you subsequently go back and change.

Only moderators can delete posts completely, but again we try not to because it can mess up the integrity of ongoing threads.

Hope that helps.

If you need something corrected or altered in a post once beyond the 45 mins, just contact a moderator and they'll be happy to help.

Except when it's unadulterated spam, in which case the nuke button does get used with great satisfaction
