Zoom TAC-2 and new iMac 2017

Postby Jazzman1969 » Tue Nov 28, 2017 12:00 pm

Hi guys !

i wonder if there is anybody out there who successfully connected his Zoom TAC-2 via an TB3-TB2-Adpater (from Apple) with a new iMac (2017 Model with only TB3/USB-C). I tried it but without success. I tried it on macOS Sierra, the light on Zoom TAC-2 flashes shortly but disconnects then without being recognized by macOS.
Perhaps somebody got it and could give hints or a how to do !

Thanx in advance

Check for the latest drivers, associated software, or firmware updates at the Zoom site.

Under the Apple menu/ About this Mac/ System Report, check under Thunderbolt.
Does your machine detect and identify the device.

If yes, open the Audio MIDI setup utility ( found in the utilities folder )
Can you select and configure ?

Hi,

no, it is not detected as a device, thus i can't configure it. When i installed the zoom-drivers, they were the latest drivers (for sierra). No further software was available.
You did not say directly in your post, that you were able to install the Zoom Tac 2 with that hardware, so i assume, u do not have TB3-Apple Hardware. But thanx for that suggestions

Now i got a major update for those who are interested:

i got it ! :bouncy:

Took the new drivers form their website and followed a tip by zoom:

plug in first the apple-tb3-tb-adapter, then plugin the tb-cable and last plug in the zoom tac-2...and... it worked ! Don't really know, what it was, but at least i am happy !

Btw, the latency went down to 1,5 ms with 64 samples at 44.100 hz !!!

Cheers

I don't own a TAC-2, just doing general troubleshooting.

Good news for all of us with Tbolt 2 kit and facing a future upgrade to something with Tbolt 3/USB C. Thanks.

Hey you all!

I am absolutely frustrated. Been trying for hours, following all kind of tips and leads.
Installed, uninstalled & reinstalled the last driver. Updated the TAC-2R firmware...

Also did the cable plug one by one thing. No way.

It still does not work.
My TBolt does not recognize anything connected.

The Zoom works, because I tested it myself in other computer.

This one is a MacBook Pro 2018 High Sierra 10.13.4

Please, help! & Thanks a lot in advance....

What's the result of doing this? If you can't see the device then it's probably a hardware rather than a driver problem.

After messing around for almost an hour I just discovered the solution (and that's the reason I just registered on this forum). :D

After installing the drivers you need to head over to the security settings (System options --> Security), and click on the button that says "allow". Check the entry "Zoom Cooperation" and grant access. Now restart your mac and the Tac 2R should be recognized by the system. Hopefully this works for you guys as well :)
