It's a default setting in phpBB that can't be turned off, without hacking the code, and that makes program increments difficult, so we're reluctant to do so.

Ok, no worries, I shall just continue to ignore it!

I find it very useful actually, saves me spouting hogwash and then having to back-pedal furiously after being corrected. :)

I'm getting some really long delays today (1 min+) when posting - even some timeouts.

Just happened again when trying to post this.

Yes... I understand that there is considerable work going on behind the scenes at the moment involving changes to caches and other things as part of work to mitigate the effect of the Meltdown/Spectre patches. There are a number of rather odd things happening around the site as a result. Hopefully normal service will be resumed shortly...

Yes... I understand that there is considerable work going on behind the scenes at the moment involving changes to caches and auto-refreshes as well as other things as part of work to mitigate the effect of the Meltdown/Spectre patches on the website host platforms.

As a result there are a number of rather odd things happening around the site. Hopefully normal service will be resumed shortly... but if you spot any other oddities, please do let us know!
