What to do?

Postby Music Wolf » Fri Jun 15, 2018 7:32 pm

I have a friend, Muzak Wolf, who is having a crisis of conscience. His wife is away for the weekend leaving him with his son and the tortoise.

There is a Baja Telecaster in the local music store, my friend has sufficient cash in his music slush fund. His annual bonus is also due next month.

At this time last year his son demonstrated his ability to keep his mouth shut when my friend went out a bought a PRS S2 Custom Semi-Hollow. The tortoise can probably be bribed with tomatoes.

I, I mean he, needs your advice. Would bribing a tortoise with tomatoes make him a bad person?

Are tomatoes bad for tortoises? I mean, would it be like pushing drugs? If not, well, I can't see anything wrong with you, I mean your mate, getting a new tele. Just like that time he got a PRS just like yours as well...

He can have tomatoes as an occasional treat, and he usually has a small one on a Saturday morning anyway, so I guess that means that it's not all that bad.

Thank you for putting my friend's mind to rest.

Aren't slush fund expenditures pre-approved?

One has to support one's local music store. It is one's public duty.

I don't have a local music shop any more :(
There's one in Gillingham, but it's a nightmare to reach with virtually no parking.

Have been campaigning, for the release of Teles from the evil despots!

We demand you rescue this poor instrument from the hands of its oppressors!!

If she trusts you with the tortoise you must have a very deep connection so anything goes as long as the Tele doesn't have a tortoiseshell pickguard. :bouncy:

Sounds like a bit of an addiction to me. But if addictions don't involve serious drugs or self-abuse, I say fair play. I'm semi-okay with self-abuse, even.

Speaking as someone who has a friend who owns 2 identical guitars but makes sure only one is visible at any moment in time, I think you can only use the slush fund to buy it if you emotionally commit to buying another one with the bonus.

I've never liked a solo violin, you need at least five for a proper fire.

Buy first, explain/excuse/justify later.

Yeah, get it! But...

So, tortoises like tomato? Hmm, nothing else does. I feed the wildlife every day/night and I find something will eat most things. Apples a bit (tho' we did have a Blackbird one year that was MAD for them!) bread of course but not THAT keen. Always get too many chips with me cod so most of those go out and it takes the birds and beasties a couple of days to finish them off (slugs like them)

Tomato though, no. They will sit there for days in the winter and just rot away this weather.

Actually I am not that keen myself. I eat one now and again because they are very good for you, especially the eyesight.

Dave.

Then you never will, even if others explain it to you. But that doesn't make you a bad person. Just ...different. ;)

I don't know about that Wonks. For a long time I was in the 'smellycaster' ranks* despite working with a guitarist who could make his really sing, but I have definitely mellowed towards them over the years and next year's project will be to take my Bastard Project** guitar and work it into something nice(ish).

* I have never previously heard this term but I can't believe I'm the first to coin it.
** A kit tele I bought a couple of years ago and built an amp into but never tried to properly finish or finesse as it was mostly a proof of concept.

My love of Telecasters is actually greater than my experience of playing them. I'm always wanting to have different pickups or another pickup or a flatter neck. But then I think about it and don't want to really change it at all. Fitting a Strat pickup in the neck position is about as far as I've gone.

Anyway, Music Wolf, I'm sure your 'friend' and the Baja Telecaster will be very happy together. A very happy new guitar day to you! Er... sorry. A very happy new guitar day to your 'friend'
