FAQ: How To Post Images In SOS Forum
Every now and then somebody in the know explains how to post pictures here on the forums. Would a definitive How-To be useful to people that includes the sites that work well with SOS? But then the trick might be how to let forum users know where this information is.

Re: Suggestion for picture post FAQ
Could add it to the User Tips sticky? Or even a separate sticky given how frequently they're useful for explanation and problem solving.

Re: Suggestion for picture post FAQ
One issue with Twitter images is that that viewer won't see them if they've blocked Twitter's tracking. Another option is imgur, which doesn't seem to care about tracking as they'll display the image to the viewer regardless.
Upload to imgur, copy the the BBCode URL and paste the link where you want said image:

Unless you happen to have your own webspace - I find putting pictures up on my web server is nice and simple.

I like that approach too, as it means that you're responsible for keeping that image available so the link works, rather than relying on another web site to always be there (this latter approach has backfired on me in the past, when a host of my previously linked images suddenly disappear :headbang: )

Re: Suggestion for picture post FAQ
if you have dropbox, a link to an image there will work just fine, if you just change the last character from 0 to 1 (i.e. ....link...&dl=0 to ....link...&dl=1).
Of course, if you remove the image from Dropbox the link will become invalid, but at least is under your control.

Nice try, but no cigar!
I just see a box and "?"- not an image. If I click on it, it says "Image failed to load".

So, maybe a safari only thing, or maybe just the way I've safari set-up?
So, I guess I owe CC a cigar!

Re: Suggestion for picture post FAQ
Yes, it's a Safari thing, but dl=1 is indicating a forced download as it basically means download = true, whereas the 0 is false. Dropbox suggests raw=1 to force a render if i remember correctly.
