Sam had a look at NAMM:

I'm sure a review will happen in due course...

The going price in the UK seems to be £419.

One review* here. https://youtu.be/SaCdQ9BLqHw

*could have chosen some better and more varied reference mixing material.

Sennheiser already make some excellent open headphones for mixing and mastering - but their closed headphones have never quite made the grade for professional use - except the HD 25 for location recording, a couple for DJ use and the new closed HD 820 at a very high price.

The old HD 250 was excellent and stayed in production for very many years , but Sennheiser never replaced it with anything as good.

So the new Neumann fills the gap, it seems.

That YT review does not add much to publicly available information. Comfort? Isolation? (main reason to get closed back) Some kind of objective information on flatness of frequency response would have been nice. In the test comparison, I couldn't hear a difference when the recording changed from the ND-H20 to the KH310 and back. No information was given on the recording system used for the comparison, this could play a big role. Subtle differences could also have been lost due to my old sound damaged ears or file compression or playback inaccuracies.

We will try to get our dirty paws (and ears/mics) on a pair or five.

Good luck! The SOS review model is on its way to us now, but I'm told there's a lot of demand for review samples. If you manage to measure them, please do get in touch, I'd be interested to see the results!

FWIW Neumann/Sennheiser are very well-known for their extremely tight manufacturing tolerances, so I expect there to be very little difference between samples.

Cheers!
