Akai Miniak Editor/Librarian for Mac OSX?

Postby Sam Spoons » Tue Jul 02, 2019 9:37 am

I've taken this quote from the Modular thread as I didn't want to take it OT again :-

The Miniak is the better option, much better build quallity. I'd like one of those too.

I bought a Miniak over the weekend and it arrived yesterday morning. It is brilliant and the 3 octave keyboard is just right (along with my Juno-D and A90), big enough for two hands and long enough to play a melody without constant octave shifting. Soundwise it's exactly what I expected and will do all I need should I want to take a keyboard out on the odd gig.

So the question is as above, is there a functioning editor/librarian program for OSX?

There was MicronAU:

https://www.kvraudio.com/product/micronau_by_retroware

I cannot vouch for it, though, as I don't use a Mac.

Looks like it's for Mac.
Glad to hear you found a Miniak.

Yup, me too. I paid a premium for it (£250) but it is more or less mint, boxed and complete and there were few about (a couple of 'well used' examples and another mint/boxed job which wen't for more than I paid).

£250 is more than OK for that synth, for what you actually get. Especially mint.
My Micron isn't mint, cosmetic stuff, and the box is very tatty, but it works.
I think price is irrelevant in these circumstances, it's how much we want something, and how it could contribute to our creativity, which is priceless anyway.

Yep. They say the true cost of something is what you have to give up to get it. But likewise the true value of something is not what it's worth, but what you get out of it.
Which is what I tell myself whenever I look at my guitar racks! :D

It's an NS Design Wave, initial impressions are that it's really nice, it plays beautifully and the string balance is excellent (a problem with another EUB of my acquaintance). Can't comment on the sound yet as I've only heard it plugged into an unknown bass amp when I bought it, I have high hopes though and will keep you posted. Too many new toys though, and I'm easily distracted as you know.......
