Hi.
Does anyone know of an established, respected company that builds hi spec Mac systems for professional composers and offers installation and ongoing support and all that kinda specialist stuff?
I have been with a company for a number of years but I have decided it is time for a change before upgrading again. Done a bit of googling and nothing comes up really.
Any recommendations appreciated. Thx

Re: Audio specialist recommendations
That's a good point Chris. I know of several specialist PC/Windows suppliers to the audio industry, but nothing on the Mac side.
Have you thought of asking somewhere like HHB? They almost certainly don't do it themselves, but they have loads of contacts and 'know stuff'. I've always found them very helpful in providing info and not always pushing for a sale. And of course the esteemed Dr R 'knows stuff' by the bucketful!
I used to get regular mailings from a company specialising in studio Macs, but that was probably over 10 years ago and the memory dims as to who they were...

Thanks for the suggestion Mike. Might ask around places like that.

Was that Jigsaw? I used to get mailings from them but I tend to ignore anything Mac related as I've been PC based forever.

What's the issue with off the shelf Macs? (Not making a point, just interested to know)

Re: Audio specialist recommendations
After posting this question in various places on the interweb, I thusly conclude that there aren't many specialists who provide the services I require.

Maybe if this was moved to the "Mac" forum there would be more replies?
A mod should be able to move it if you asked.
Although I suspect ConcertinaChap's question will be asked again.
Why not an off the shelf Mac.
Apple will allow you to spec a computer to your requirements (to a certain extent) and AFAIK Apple's care package will give you phone support for as long as you take it out for.
Not the cheapest though.
You haven't mentioned which DAW you use, if it's Logic I think they will provide phone support for that too.
Hope you find someone to sort you out.

You could probably do worse than talk to Yellow Technology:
https://yellowtechnology.co.uk/
I haven't used their services myself so can't offer a direct recommendation, but I do know at least one of their team and he definitely knows his stuff.

As suggested, I’ve moved this topic to the Mac forum.

Can Scan not help?
Certainly have the general expertise and support on the audio front, and appear to still do Macs.
Their site doesn't appear to have the full config options that I remember them having for Mac systems, but it's possibly worth getting in touch.

In your shoes, I would drop a PM to Studio Support Gnome / Max and see if he still does this. At one point, a whole load of the film / tv industry was running systems he's built / spec'd ...
